Festival FAQ

ANSWERS TO OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Mothman Festival?
The Mothman Festival is an annual gathering that commemorates the mysterious visit of the “Mothman” in the 1960s and is a great event for all ages. It's held annually in downtown Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and features live music, merchandise from various vendors, food trucks, cosplay, speakers — and of course you!

Where is the Mothman Festival located?
The festival is located in Point Pleasant, right in the heart of Main Street, usually between the 200–500 blocks. Once you come off of the Bartow Jones Memorial Bridge (it's huge and green — you can't miss it!) into Point Pleasant, you will travel approximately one block north and on the left is the epicenter of the Festival. It’s super-easy to find — just look for all of the people!

What are the festival days?
The festival is held the third weekend of September.
This year's official dates are: September 20th & 21st, 2025 — and we usually do some type of kickstarter event on Friday evening, which is TBA.

How much does it cost to get into the Mothman Festival?

Admission is FREE! There are some festival events and attractions that have a fee, but we strive to keep everything affordable and family-friendly. There is a fee for the admission to the Mothman Museum. Lines for the Museum can be long and paying with cash is encouraged to get into the museum quicker, and bring another $5 if you want to try to get a hayride ticket. Cash only for hayride tickets.

How do I buy tickets for the TNT/Farm Museum Wagon rides?
There are NO pre-sales, the charge is $5 EXACT CASH for all ages. Tickets sell out quickly and are sold Saturday morning around 9 to 10 AM until sold out at the Info Tent located beside the Point Pleasant Post Office on the 300 block of Main Street. Wagon rides take place at the State Farm Museum (1458 Fairgrounds Rd, Point Pleasant, WV — about 9 miles north of Point Pleasant, off Route 62) starting at 7 PM and typically finish around 11 PM. There are NO shuttle services available to the Farm Museum; you must provide your own transportation. The ride is approximately 15 minutes going through part of the Farm Museum grounds, then back into part of the TNT Area, where you can observe the viaducts that were used when the TNT Area was operational. There are public restrooms, light refreshments sold, and live musical entertainment.

Where's the best place to park?
Parking is "choose your own adventure!" Point Pleasant is a small town, but there is street parking near the Festival area, mostly on upper Main Street above 6th Street. Please be advised that the earlier you arrive at the Festival (typically by 10 AM), the better your parking options will be. The streets around the Festival area are mostly on level, flat ground, as well as is most parking in town. Traffic can be very congested during the days of the festival; and there can be A LOT of walking to get to the Festival and at the Festival itself. Parking at nearby Krodel Park is on a TBA basis every year. Your best bet is to wear comfy shoes and plan on walking quite a bit.

What are the festival hours?
The Festival operates during daylight hours, with most shops and vendors opening on Saturday around 10 AM and closing between 5 to 6 PM. However, some food vendors will stay open later, and our live music performances and guest speakers are usually active until approximately 8 PM.
The Mothman 5K begins at 8 AM on Saturday.
On Sunday, the festival opens at 10 AM and concludes around 5 PM.

I am traveling to the festival; where can I book a local hotel?
Please be advised that the hotels in our area book up FAST! — so the earlier you book, the closer you can stay to the epicenter of the Festival. The historic Lowe Hotel is located on Main Street in Point Pleasant, and will put you directly in the center of the festival, but it sells out early, so don't wait to book your stay!

Go to our TNT AREA BUS TOURS section of our website where you'll find the information you need, and an option to reserve and pay for your seats online. Street parking in town is advised to get you to the festival area faster, especially if you are on the 10 AM tour. If the tours do not sell out prior to the start of the festival, we have in the past sold the few remaining seats on the days of the festival. The tour tent is located on 6th St. and Main where you check in 15 minutes prior to your bus tour.

*********There are NO refunds for the tour.*********

Is there any other place I can find Festival info?
YES! Our Facebook page is the best place to get the latest and up-to-date info: facebook.com/mothmanfestival
We also have the Mothman App available for FREE for both iPhone and Android phones, which will keep you in the loop regarding updates, events, schedules, and more!
During the Festival, there is an Info Tent located by the Point Pleasant Post Office on the 300 block of Main Street.

Can I bring my dog to the festival?
We would suggest that you leave your pup with a sitter or in the comfort of your home. Although we love dogs, be advised that our streets are VERY crowded and we would hate to see your pup get trampled on by someone. It is up to your discretion on whether you want to bring them, but if you do, please make sure they are socialized with kids, other dogs, and are approachable. Also, please make sure you bring water for them because the Mothman Festival weather can be very warm in September. All dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
There is one pet-friendly hotel in Gallipolis, Ohio: Check with the Quality Inn for pet-friendly rooms:
(740) 446-0090

Can I use my credit card or should I bring cash?
BRING CASH. Some merch vendors will have the ability to take credit cards, however, there will be some that cannot and the INTERNET IS SPOTTY. It is advised that you BRING enough CASH with you so you'll be covered, especially for things such as visits to the food vendors, the Mothman Museum, and participating in some of the fun things at the festival (like the wagon ride, kids activities, etc). There are two banks within walking distance with ATMs: Peoples Bank at 421 Main St., and Ohio Valley Bank at 3289 Viand St.

Where are the restrooms located?

There is a restroom facility located behind the floodwall and just to the right of the River Front Amphitheater. There will also be porta-potties located throughout the Festival area.
